A sweet and easy to brew coffee that's fairly flexible. Works well both on espresso and batch brew.
After a very long search, we found a Brazilian coffee that we really liked. P45 for us is the right balance of sweetness, nutty and citrus notes. As soon as we tried it we thought, 'this is going to fly off the shelves, a real crowd pleaser'.
Fazenda Pinhal, the farm where this coffee is from, was awarded as the most sustainable farm in Brazil in 2019. They partner with a very cool project called ASAS that works on nurturing and re-releasing illegally captured animals and birds back into their natural habitats. They partner with local universities to coordinate on research and help rehabilitate the wildlife. The farm’s ecosystem is so good for wildlife that many species remain in the environment around it. In the past three years, 747 birds and animals have been released through the program at Fazenda Pinhal!
Fazenda Pinhal is a 914-hectare farm situated close to San Antonio De Amparo in Sul De Minas. The farm belongs to the Gabarra Teixeria family who acquired the farm in 1994. Only 296 hectares of the farm is planted with coffee (33% of the farm) with the rest of the land kept as natural reserve, Eucalyptus Forest and pasture land for cows.
In addition to participating in the ASAS program, the Teixeria family also installed solar panels which now supply 100% of their energy usage. And if that isn't enough, they started providing dental care plans in 2018 to improve the welfare of their staff and conduct joint research with a local university on ways to make the working environment more sustainable for their employees and prevent occupational injuries.
